To help improve the chances of selling your house quickly, I've put together the top 5 home improvements buyers look for in their home purchase. When you are getting ready to sell your house, you need to make sure that potential buyers can envision themselves in the home. Ultimately, these improvements are inexpensive and easy fixes that can pay off in the long run.
1. Order a DEEP Cleaning
This includes windows, steam clean the carpets (or get new carpets), upholstery, pressure wash the entryway. Anything you can to make it look at new as possible.
2. Update the Bathrooms
Simple updates such as the new toilet seats, new shower curtains, fixture updates ($25 bucks at Home Depot) and recaulking around the tub goes a long, long way to prospective buyers.
3. Improve the Lighting
Natural light = happiness. No, really, everyone loves light. Open the drapes and blinds for showings. Replace dim light bulbs and make sure lamps are properly placed.
4. CLEAR. THE. CLUTTER.
It is okay to leave your shampoo bottles in the shower if you still live there but start to clear out the clutter that you do not need. This goes back to making prospective buyers feel like your house is a place they can see their families. So, try to pack up the knick knacks and prep your house accordingly.
5. Paint Goes a Long Way
If you have a purple accent wall, paint it. Dark room in the house? Paint it. Even if your house has a neutral color scheme already, a fresh coat of paint goes a long way.
