DALLAS FORT WORTH PRIVATE SECTOR WORKFORCE CONTINUES TO GROW
According to an analysis by American City Business Journals, the number of private-sector jobs in Dallas-Fort Worth increased by 103,100 over the last year—that’s the second-largest increase in the country! Although the drop in oil prices has caused neighboring economies in Houston and Oklahoma to hurt, Dallas was still able to grow thanks to local diversification.
G. Scott Thomas of the Dallas Business Journal reports that in October 2015, DFW had 3,035,000 private sector jobs. That increased 3.4 percent to 3,138,100 in 2016—the 15th-largest increase in terms of percentage. Other cities with the highest private-sector workforce growth rates include:
Daytona Beach, FL - 5.6%
Baton Rouge, LA - 4.5%
Jacksonville, FL – 4.3%
Orlando, FL – 4.3%
Sarasota-Bradenton, FL – 4.2%
Ogden, UT – 4.1%
Denver, CO – 4.0%
