Dazed And Confused Dallas Style

Dazed And Confused Dallas Style

Have you ever cruised Forest Lane?  Chances are if you grew up in North Dallas and you’re over 40, you have!  Okay, I’m dating myself, but I can remember cruising Forest with my girl Jennifer in her hot little convertible Fiat and later in her baby blue Honda CRX.  Oh…the memories!!!  The cute boys from all the surrounding schools and then some!

If you ever did cruise Forest Lane, then you are no stranger to the iconic wall that runs from Midway almost to Rosser Rd.  I gotta tell you, if you’ve never seen it, you should!  It’s TRIPPY!!!!!  It conjures up vivid memories of the late 70’s, early 80’s in my mind.  The mural was originally painted by the W.T. White Class of 1975!  All I can think of when I see it is…Xanadu!!!

But it is a staple in this part of town!  Heck, it’s the community that I call home these days, Glen Cove/Glen Meadow Estates.  And these days our HOA maintains the wall.  It was actually restored a little over a year ago and unfortunately a truck plowed into it this past summer and the wall remains damaged.  I’m not sure how we’ll get it repaired, but I hope it happens.  This wall is a piece of history!  Really, history!  Although the wall still maintains that “trippy” vibe that it had in the 70’s, it’s actually very tastefully done and it showcases great artistry in the community.

One of the WONDERFUL things about this community is that it’s CENTRAL to EVERYTHING!!!  Seriously!  You can get downtown in 20 minutes, you can be in Plano in 20 minutes and you can even be in Irving in 20 minutes.  AND, you really don’t have to hop in the highways to do so.  We’re also minutes away from shopping and restaurants.  On a lovely weekend like this last one, we will WALK to Village Burger at Inwood and Willow.  The Galleria is just up the road, and there are some great shopping centers at Preston and Forest and Preston and Royal.  My husband and I have been in the neighborhood for 15 years and we’ve seen our home value increase every single year.  I just have to brag on our little neighborhood because I think it gets overlooked, but it’s definitely a GEM!!

If you’re looking to move to North Dallas, give me a ring!  I will be more than happy to share the rich history that I’ve experienced growing up in North Dallas and coming back to this same area to raise my family.  We can even cruise Forest Lane for old time’s sake!  We'll leave the Strawberry Hill at home, though... ;)
